Why it's called "Outstanding Tiny Desk"
The sound behind every version is "Outstanding" – the 1982 hit by The Gap Band – from Charlie Wilson's live Tiny Desk concert, where he sings it with a full band, back-up singers and a sax player behind a cluttered office desk. The AI videos recreate that performance with new faces, so people search for it as the Outstanding Tiny Desk video or Outstanding Tiny Desk AI.
Where it started
On October 19, 2026 an Instagram/TikTok creator posted an AI video of the college football head coaches who had lost the day before, performing together as a soulful band at a Tiny Desk–style office concert. It was reposted across X within hours ("the Week 7 support group"), and by October 23 there were NFL versions – a team owner on saxophone with a division's coaches as the band – and a team version with more than 4 million views. News outlets tracked down the creator, who said he made it because he was "already mad" about his team's loss.
